Who We Help: Adults
Children and teens and Silicon Valley need you in their lives, whether you’re a parent or not! The more positive relationships that young people have with adults both inside and outside their families, the more likely they are to thrive. Project Cornerstone offers workshops and programs that help adults connect with and support young people. Our offerings include:
- Introduction to Assets. This one-hour program discusses the importance of positive youth development and simple ways to use the research-proven developmental assets model to help young people thrive. Introduction to Assets is suitable for schools, faith communities, civic groups or any community that wants to learn effective strategies to support children and teens. This program is available in English and Spanish.
- Take It Personally Asset Champion Training. This six-session workshop helps adults understand and make a stronger commitment to supporting young people and provides tools, exercises and strategies to help participants fulfill their commitment. Participants are encouraged to continue meeting after the formal workshops end to support each other’s efforts and work together to create new opportunities in their schools, neighborhoods, organizations or communities. We provide ongoing follow-up coaching and consultation to help groups and individuals reach their goals.
- Literature-based volunteer programs at schools. In these programs, adults share specially selected books and lead activities and discussions that help students understand how to develop strong friendships, stop bullying and create a common language to discuss behaviors at their school. English- and Spanish-language programs are available. Click here to learn more about these programs.

"Sometimes life provides you with an opportunity where the path is rippled with thorns but if you are able to stay the course you will find that a beautiful rose awaits you. The Take it Personally (TIP) training class is the rose that all parents truly should obtain. The 6 week 1.5 hours class commitment may seem daunting but each class is filled with valuable information and real life experience sharing that will stay with you for a lifetime. It is not about how to be a better parent but more importantly how to be a better person in our community."
