Volunteer
Getting Involved

Available volunteer positions are listed below. A volunteer application is required. For more information about these volunteer opportunities, email info@projectcornerstone.org or call (408) 351-6482.

Administrative Support
Administrative support volunteers help support Project Cornerstone by assisting with a number of tasks in our main office, which may include general administrative activities (copying, collating, filing, etc.), translating materials, data entry, inventory assistance, translating materials, and more.

Asset Building Champions (ABC) Volunteer
Adult volunteers read pre-selected asset-based children’s books once a month in classrooms and hold guided discussions and activities with the students. Volunteers must attend monthly meetings regarding lesson plans and activities. In addition, volunteers must complete either a Taking Asset Building Personally (TABP) or an Assets 101 training course.

Cornerstone Club Coach
Adult volunteers who work at schools to support and coach student work plans developed by students in their Expect Respect workshops.

Cultural Heritage Asset Programs (CHAPs) Volunteer
Adult volunteers read pre-selected Spanish language children’s books that are asset-based once a month in classrooms and hold guided discussions and activities with the students. Volunteers must take an introductory course in developmental assets (provided by Project Cornerstone staff) and attend a monthly meeting to discuss lesson plans.  

CHAPs programs include Los Dichos de la Casa (Spanish-language) as well as Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese cultural programs.

Lunch-Time Activity Coordinator
Adult volunteers work at schools once a week to provide asset-building activities during lunch and/or recess.

Special Projects
Volunteers support short-term tasks or projects as they arise.

Taking Asset Building Personally (TABP) Facilitator
Using the TABP workbook as a guide, TABP facilitators lead a six-week course with a small group of six to twelve adults. The group will learn about developmental assets, reflect on the assets they possessed while growing up, and discuss how to effectively build assets in youth today. Facilitators must have completed the TABP course to qualify for this position.
