Developmental Assets: 2004 Survey Results

What are our youth telling us?

In 2004, we found that only 8% of the middle and high school students surveyed had 31-40 assets.  Whereas 38% of the elementary students had 31-40 assets or what we call the “Thriving Zone”.  We need your help in ensuring that our teens don’t lose assets as they get older.

The research is clear.  Youth with more assets are more likely to help others and maintain good health.  On the other hand, children and youth with fewer assets are more likely to try more risky behavior, such as attempting suicide, experimenting with alcohol and getting into a car with someone who has been drinking.
